LIMA Military Exercise

Indonesian Troops

VIVAnews - The uniform of the Indonesian military stationed in Sudan is envied by fellow peace troops stationed in the spot as well.
"The Sudanese troops think that our uniform is of fine quality," said Deputy of Logistics Division of the Indonesian Police, Djoko Sardono, on Thursday, Feb. 26.
Sardono explained that the uniform and outfits worn by the personnels of the Indonesian Military and Indonesian Police such as shoes, clothes, military belts, and beret are of domestic products.  "[The products are] one hundred percent local. The military belt is made in Tulungagung and the beret is manufactured in Cengkareng," he said.
Sardono went on to say that the number of police officers and staff reaches 400,000. "The staff reaches 25 percent [of total personnels]," he said. The implementation of presidential decree amidst police officers only aimed at improving monitoring over teh usage of domestic products. "We will later prepare a circulation letter," he added.
Minister of Industry Fahmi Idris acknowledged that the implementation of Presidential Decree No. 2/2009 is still being fomulated. "We are going to have a coordinating meeting just like this one to hear inputs from other institutions," said Idris.
Today, Feb. 26, Idris invited several institutions related to the first coordination meeting. They included Ministry of State Administrative Reform, the Indonesian Police, National Education Department, and the State Procurement Agency. "But, the Chief of the Indonesian Military, Indonesian Police, Education Minister, and the Ministry of State Administrative Reform could not meet the invitation. They were represented by their officials," Idris said.
Idris said he will hold a coordinating meeting with other technical departments soon. "Although the presidential decree has its national team, it is aimed at all ministries and departments using budget from the State Budget for the procurement of goods and services," he said.
Idris said the discussion on the presidential decree was not only about shoes and clothes. "It is also concerned with all forms of procurement for government's goods and services."

Indonesia Military Joint Exercise

In the framework of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and the United States Navy, Indonesia held a Joint Exercise (Latma) called CARAT (Cooperation Afloat Readines and Training) with the U.S. Navy, say Chief of Staff Army Navy (KSAL), Admiral TNI Soeparno.


"CARAT Latma was conducted every year since 2002 until 2006. Then in 2007, the term was changed to Naval Enggagement CARAT Activity / NEA and used until 2010. Then in 2011 Latma CARAT again used the term,"he said during remarks opening KSAL Latma CARAT RI Fleet Command Headquarters Western Area, Jalan Gunung Sahari, Jakarta, Wednesday (25 / 5).



Indonesia-Russia military joint exercise

Indonesia-Bangladesh military cooperation

Indonesia-Pakistan military cooperation

Government of Indonesia and Pakistan have agreed on cooperation to strengthen defense relations between the two countries in the field of defense into a broader level, on July 21, 2010. "For three years we prepare for what could be done by the two countries especially in the fields of defense," said Purnomo. Indonesia-Turkey military cooperation

Indonesia and Turkey have agreed to increase military cooperation, the transfer of defense technology and jointly modify Indonesia’s ageing fleet of military transport aircraft, said Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro from Turkey, where he is accompanying President Yudhoyono on an official state visit.

“The cooperation will be extremely beneficial for Indonesia. Turkey has 700,000 troops, highly advanced military software and technology and 230 F-16 fighter jets,” the minister said.

“They are willing to transfer their technology to us,” Yusgiantoro said.

He said one form of the technology transfer will be the modification of CN-235 aircraft to become maritime patrol planes.

“Turkey produces CN-235s just like Indonesia. Nine of these planes will be transformed into maritime patrol aircraft,” Yusgiantoro said, adding that 100 Indonesian experts will be involved in the project.

He said Indonesia’s ageing fleet of Hercules C-130 transport aircraft will also be upgraded and another joint project may also involve Indonesia’s F-16s.



Indonesia-Saudi military cooperation

The Government of Indonesia and Saudi Arabia agreed to establish a defense cooperation, including education and training, exchange of personnel and development of defense industries.

Defense Ministry press release received by ANTARA here on Tuesday, said the cooperation agreement was revealed in a meeting of Deputy Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and Prince Khalid bin Sultan, in a trip to Saudi Arabia.

Both sides in June 2011 will form the Working Group or the Joint Committee `Military` (WG / MJC) with the task of inventorying the scope of cooperation. The first meeting of WG / MJC planned to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia or in Jakarta.



Indonesia-Japan military cooperation

Indonesia-UAE military cooperation

Indonesia-Korea military cooperation

Indonesia-Iran defense cooperation

Iran and Indonesia bilateral relations in the defense works quite well, it is characterized by the mutual placing of Defense Attache at the Embassy respectively. Australia Military Exercise

The Australian Army has demonstrated its latest combat weapons to Army officers, soldiers and invited guests during Exercise Chong Ju (EXCJ) at the Puckapunyal Military Area (PMA).

This live firepower demonstration showcased Army and Air Force weapons and vehicles, including the M1A1 Abrams tank, ASLAV, Bushmaster, 105 mm Hamel gun, infantry and sniper teams, and the firing of the Javelin anti-armour missile.
RAAF F-111 and F/A-18 aircraft also provided live close air support.


Colonel (COL) Michael Kingsford, the Commandant of the Army’s Combined Arms Training Centre, said EXCJ was an essential part of combat training for the Army’s junior officers.

“The exercise provides young officers and soldiers awareness of the effects of our latest weapons and how best to use them in operational scenarios,” COL Kingsford said.

COL Kingsford also thanked local residents for their ongoing support of training in the PMA. EXCJ was named after a battle in North Korea in 1950 when the Third Battalion of the Royal Australian Regiment, supported by tanks and artillery, attacked and captured a large North Korean defensive line during their northward advance to the Yalu River.
